In the latest podcast from "The diary of the CEO" Steven asks Daniel Priestly about why people are not starting executing their ideas or working towards their goal (around 1h37m mark). Steven gives in an analogy that we have to appreciate where we are first, your story, your background matters.
This made me think about my own writing of articles. I have not been prioritizing this and I kept postponing each day. So far in 2025 I only created one and a half article. This is not enough. So I'm going to try to publish every day and reserve time for this.
I asked Grok to help me out and give me some advice to help me along. I hope this helps you as well:
- Fixed Schedule: Choose a consistent time you can do the activity
- Set Realistic goals: Instead of aiming for perfection, aim for a certain number of words in case of writing. The goal is to write, not to publish perfect articles
- Reduce Distractions: Create a space where you can write without interruptions. Try the pomodoro technique, and work in short bursts of e.g. 25 minutes.
- Accountability: Find somebody who is also persuing the same habit. Share progress, give feedback, or write together. Annouce your goal on social media or in a community.
- Preperation: Spend a few minutes each day or week planning what you will do (or in my case write about).
- Review and Learn: After a few days or weeks, look back at your early content and compare it to the later pieces. Engage with other's work, take short courses, or read about strategies to improve your craft
I am going to start using these tips in my work. Hopefully you will see many more articles from me, improving day by day. What do you think about these tips? Are you stuck as well on something? If so, what are you doing to start anyway? Send a message and let me know!
